Observing Lent

The Season Of Lent - Lent is a time where we prepare our minds and hearts to fully celebrate the joy of the Resurrection at Easter.  It lasts forty days, and is a time of Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving.  These 3 pillars help us to turn away from our sinful ways and open ourselves to God's incredible love and mercy as we grow closer to Him.

Prayer - We want to help our students develop a meaningful prayer life and connect with God.  Each week our school community will be immersed in prayer as a whole school.  Students will pray the Rosary, participate in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, explore Doodle Art prayer and Gratitude prayer, and listen to Father Mariusz speak about the strength we draw from prayer.  Additionally, our school will lead Stations of the Cross at St. Francis de Sales parish on March 19 at 6 PM, and we invite you to join us.

Fasting - Fasting allows us to realize that we are dependent on God.  When we sacrafice or give up something, we draw strength from God.

Almsgiving - As a school community we are raising money for local families in need.  We have several projects planned to raise money that will be donated to St. Francis de Sales Helping Hands.  These include:

  • Jean Day:  Teachers pay $20 to wear jeans on Thursdays in Lent
  • Popcorn Days:  Students can purchase popcorn on March 3 and 16 for $1/bag
